The Australian (Sydney, NSW : 1824 - 1848) View title info Thu 9 May 1839 Page 2 LAW. Harriet Shepherd was indicted for manslaughter in killing William Berryman, by beating him on the head with a batten, at the Liverpool Road, on the 16th of January. Guilty— To be transported for seven years. Court adjourned to Wednesday.




Conditional Pardon No.748 dated 31 December 1836, Trade: Gardener, Conviction 9 August 1820




Convicted for sheep stealing with son Joseph and sentenced to death. This was then changed to life transportation to Australia. Assigned to Gov. Sawyer, Sydney where they cut timber at Longbottom farm throughout 1821-22. William obtained his Ticket of Leave on 24th August 1829 with the condition of having to remain in the district of Liverpool.
