Robert Baker and James Berrow, charged with burglariously breaking and entering the dwellinghouse of Joseph Jones, at the parish of Much Marcle, and stealing a side of bacon and other articles. Hereford Journal, 24 March 1841 Robert Baker and James Berrow were convicted of breaking into the house of Christopher Jones at Marcle, and were each sentenced to transportation for life. I am a descendant of James Berrow




James was transported for stealing bacon and a piece of bread. He was sent to Maria Island where he received one month hard labourer in chains for not reporting someone absent from his mess as ordered to do. Two months hard labourer in chains for doing work he was not asked to do. He died at Maria Island 9\6\1846.
