1832, 24 August: From the Tasmanian, p3: "Henry Bestall, Katherine Stewart Forbes, to act as constable at the residence of William Gellibrand, Esq., J.P., Police District of Richmond, to take effect from the 16th inst.". 1837: Granted a Ticket of Leave. 1842, 1 January: He was granted a Conditional Pardon No.11 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-5$init=CON31-1-5p7). 1851, 17 April: A Henry Bestall, free, was a steerage passenger on the "Shamrock" out of Launceston for Melbourne (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/POL220-1-1). 1854, 22 July: Henry Bestall [recorded as Nestall] per KS Forbes was a steerage passenger on the "Black Swan" out of Launceston for Melbourne (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/POL220-1-3). 1854, 28 September: Henry Bestall per KS Forbes and free by servitude sailed from Launceston on the "Clarence" for Melbourne (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/POL220-1-3).
1831, 19 July: Henry Bestall, 35, was convicted at the Summer Assizes at Montgomery, Wales, for horse stealing along with Jonathan Roose and John Farren/Farrant. All were sentenced to death, commuted to transportation for life (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892). 1831, 7 October: All three were admitted to the prison hulk Justitia, Woolwich, and from there were sent for transportation on 10 February to VDL per KS Forbes (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). 1832: On arrival in VDL, Henry Bestall/Beastall was 36 and single. He was said to belong to a gang of horse stealers; his behaviour on the voyage was “quiet” (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON18-1-10$init=CON18-1-10p18).
