John is the third member of his family to be transported. His uncle Daniel Betton and brother George Betton already previously being transported to Van Diemans land and NSW respectively. John was transported on 22 Jun 1846 onboard ship names the Maitland. HIs bad ways continued and on 4 Apr 1874 was again convicted of larceny-cattle stealing and sentenced to 12 months labour. John died in NSW in 1895
