James was recorded as being tried at the Old Bailey, November 1790. I have been unable to locate the actual trial transcript. However, the Supplement is recorded (t17901208-1) when he was recorded as being committed to a life sentence.

I can locate no mention of Jame sin the 1802 Muster however he does appear in subsequent lists.
[0279] James Betts, Albermarle, PTL, works for Mr Hobby.

[0415] James Betts, Albermarle, Tried November 1790, Old Bailey, Life.

[0642] James Betts, Albermarle, Off Stores, Labourer.

Around 1820, James started living with Rose Reilly (Convict, Britannia, 1797). I have been unable to ascertain if there were any children to this union.  Rose did have two children from a previous liaison with John Vardy (Convict, Queen, 1791).
Rose and James are recorded together in the 1828 Census:
