Friday se'nnight, about ? o'clock in the morning, the following convicts were taken from Bristol gaol, to be sent to Botany-Bay, viz, Matthew Farrell, Domnicus Dorling, James Beven, Wm, Griffiths, James Edwards, and William Saviles; when they had reached as far as the Old Market, Farrell began to be outrageous, and seized the waggoner's whip, with which he struck several persons, and swore he would sooner die than be sent to Botany-Bay. Some persons having given him a knife and a bludgeon, he said he would kill Mr Driver and the turnkey, (and did run the knife into one of the turnkey's hands) before he would go; but after a terrible scuffle he was overcome, the weapons taken from him, and he properly secured with irons to the cart.
