George BIDDLE was convicted at Coventry, Warwick, England in March 1824 for stealing fowls. Gaol Report: "bad character". Hulk Report: "orderly". 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Princess Charlotte' arriving 1827. Single man. Work assignments in the Colony of VDL. 7 Aug 1826: Abscond from Orielton. Chain Gang for 1 mth, then return to service at his Master's. APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION TO MARRY: 30 Nov 1832: George BIDDLE (per Princess Charlotte) to Sarah FRENCH (per 'Mary'). Approved. MARRIAGE: 31 Jan 1833 at New Norfolk, VDL. George BIDDLE, to Sarah FRENCH. (ref. 36/1/2 no. 2280) CHILD: George Thomas BIDDLE born at Hobart. Father - George BIDDLE.
