7/4/1845 Aris's Birmingham Gazette Warwickshire, England: WARWICKSHIRE LENT ASSIZES Horatio Biddle was charged with having feloniously broken into and entered the dwelling-house of George Biddle, his father, in Dale end, Birmingham. The house was broken into and entered through the cellar window at the back. The noise was heard by the prosecutor, and on an alarm being given, the prisoner was seen to come out of the house.__The jury returned a verdict of guilty ; and a previous conviction having been proved, the prisoner was sentenced to ten years' transportation. Horatio Biddle was listed as 27 years old on arrival in VDL - he arrived VDL 19/5/1847 after having been at Norfolk Island. Horatio was single, literate, protestant, 5'3¼" tall, dark hair and whiskers, fair complexion, grey eyes, 5 small burns on right arm. 28/8/1850 Hobarton Guardian: ROBBERY.—On Saturday morning the 21th instant, Horatio Biddle and James Williams were brought before the police magistrate by detective constable John Farrell, charged with stealing three watches, valued at about £5, the property of Mr. William Cole. The defendants having pleaded Not Guilty were remanded to the Prisoners' Barracks until the 27th instant, to afford the prosecuting constable sufficient time to prepare the case for a summary jurisdiction. 24/12/1850: TOL 29/3/1853: TOL revoked - absent from muster. 14/2/1854: TOL 12/9/1854: Permission to marry Maria Murray (Stately 1849). No registration found. 23/10/1854: TOL/Launc./ Misconduct in cohabiting with Maria Murray. 18/4/1859: Married Emma Middum at the Baptist Chapel, York St, Launceston. Horatio listed as 30 and a Traderman/Tradesman?? - Emma listed as 19 and a spinster. 10/6/1864: Horatio Biddle died of Decline, at Launceston, aged, 36. 24/7/1864: Son, Horatio Biddle, born Launceston. (Emma listed as Middap). 4/9/1864: Emma Biddle 26, a widow, married James Thomas, 52, a Tailor, at the Baptist Chapel, York St., Launceston. Both made their marks, so both were illiterate. 10/6/1872: Son, John Thomas, born Launceston. (Emma listed as Middaff).
