27/4/1833 Northampton Mercury Northamptonshire, England: James Billington, indicted for stealing, on the 5th Sept. last, in the dwelling-house of Robert Pettit, of Belton, 57 sovereigns and two half sovereigns, the property of the siad Robert Pettit, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to transportation for life. James Billington was 18 years old on arrival. Native Place: Rutlandshire. James was literate, protestant, single, 5'4" tall, dark sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, small scar outer corner of left eyebrow, scar inside fourth finger of right hand, small scar right shin, scar lower part of right side of neck. 1842: TOL, Parramatta 1842: Married Elizabeth Wicks, at the Church of England, Hunters Hill, NSW. Children: 1846: John H 1849: Sarah A 1853: Rebecca A 1854: Isabella 1855: Robert 1857: Mary J 1859: Henry W 1861: Arthur T 1863: Sydney A 1865: Walter N 1867: Edward E 1869: Frederick C 1871: Ada E 25/1/1843: TOL Passport, Parramatta Bench. 31/12/1847: CP 16/3/1893: James died and was buried at the Field of Mars Cemetery, NSW. 17/3/1893 Evening News, Sydney: THE Friends of Mr. JAMES BILLINGTON, sen. are respectfully invited to attend his funeral : to move from his late residence, Buffalo-road, Ryde, SATURDAY, March 18. at 3 o'clock, for the Field of Mars Cemetery. Elizabeth died, aged 92, on 26/12/1917 and was buried at the Field of Mars Cemetery, NSW.
