Jane Bird was 19 years old on arrival in VDL. She was transported for "Stealing a dress" and her native place was Manchester. Jane was 5'1" tall, light brown hair, hazel eyes, unmarried and could read and write, ring on middle finger of right hand. 17/9/1850: TOL 1850: Married Thomas Blackmore (Royal Sovereign). They had 5 children and Thomas died in 1858. Jane then lived with Charles Lucas (Lord Lyndoch 1838) and they had 3 children. Charles was married to Bridget Blenkinsop (26/9/1847) but she was always drunk and disorderly. Charles left her and lived with Jane and they married on 12/10/1885.

8 June 1900: LUCAS.-At Sorell, Jane, the beloved wife of Charles Lucas, in the 74th year of her age. Funeral will leave her late residence at 2 p.m. on Monday. Friends are respectfully invited to attend.
