At the Berkshire Assizes, which commenced 6th Monday at Reading, … and Stephen Bird, for stealing silver spoons from the dwelling house of ?? Loighton, at Wokingham were found guilty, and received sentence of death but were afterwards reprieved. Oxford Journal, 9 March 1816. STEPHEN BIRD, aged 22 years, charged with having entered the dwelling-house of Farr Longhlon, Wokingham, and feloniously stolen thereout a silver gravy spoon, five silver table spoons, seven silver tea spoons, and other articles. Guilty, Death. —Reprieved, Oxford University and City Herald, 9 March 1816.
