Family connections for Elizabeth (Birkett) are: BI/URKETT Elizabeth (Burki/ett) was born perhaps in 1800. She was tried at Nottingham Town Quarter Sessions on 14 1 1819, sentenced to 7years & arrived in Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) as a convict on 30 9 1820 after a voyage of 4.5months on MORLEY (although this Website has the ship travelling to NSW). She married Thomas (Kidner) on 7 1 1822 in Tasmania & produced 7children. A Certificate (of Freedom?) no.1831/90 was issued for her on 14 3 1831. She died on 2 11 1861 age perhaps61. [Some details taken from this Website] Thomas (Kidner) was born on 30 5 1795 on Norfolk Island. He was recorded as a child off stores on Norfolk Island in February 1805. He left Norfolk Island to Derwent River Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) as part of the first evacuation with his father on 9 11 1807 on HMS LADY NELSON, arriving on 18/29 11 1807. In 1817 he was given 6.25perches in Collins St Hobart by his mother. It may be he who departed on whaling vessel SPRING in 1817 & JUPITER in 1818. It also may be he, or his father, in 1822 who was tried for throwing stones at Thomas (Florence), at Kangaroo Point, at Hobart Magistrates Bench, fined & given 25lashes. He was possibly granted 60acres at Sussex (Rokeby) in 1823. In 1824 he obtained a ferry licence for operation between Bluff Point & Pittwater. He died on 26/9 5 1883 age88-. Details of Thomas (Kidner)s family are given in entry for Thomas (Kidner ALEXANDER 1788) on this Website.
