FELONY.—ONE HUNDRED POUNDS, REWARD, WHEREAS RICHARD BIRKING, late a Clerk in the Post-Office', at Stone, is strongly suspected to have stolen a Letter, containing BANK NOTES to a considerable amount, and has absconded.. Whoever shall apprehend and secure him .in any of llis Majesty's Gaols in this Kingdom, will be paid REWARD Of FIFTY POUNDS, and the further Sum of FIFTY POUNDS upon his Conviction. The said Richard Birking is about 36 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, has dark eyes and complexion, black hair, which he wears short strait down his forehead, is rather stout made, has a little hesitation in his speech. He has lost his left arm, below the elbow,  has been a Marine and is an Out-pensioner of Greenwich Hospital. He was at Chester for some days prior the 14th September;  on Wednesday he went from thence in the Holyhead Coach, and sailed in the Packet to Dublin on the 15th September.  No account of him can be obtained in Ireland, and therefore he may perhaps have since returned to England.  Sun, 13 Oct 1815.  Richard Birking, a clerk in the Post Office at Stone, has been apprehended in Ireland, and committed for trial to Stafford gaol, charged with stealing Bank Notes out of a letter. Morning Post, 26 Oct 1815. At Stafford Assizes, Richard Birking, for embezzling a letter at the post office, Stone, containing upwards of 200£. was left for execution. Bury and Norwich Post, 10 April 1816.

ONE POUND REWARD JAMES KELLY, a Boy aged eleven years, having been missed from, the Service of Richard Birkin, of Parramatta, Tailor, for the last six weeks, the above Reward will be paid to any Person who will give information of him to Mr. Hugh Taylor, of Parramatta, the Boy's Parents being in great distress about him. Sydney Gazette, 27 Jan 1838.
