Correction for last entry. re Euryalus Hulk Record. The boys were not received from Newgate. Received Eleven from Edinburgh. 14 June 1832.




Circuit Court. Glasgow, Friday, May 4. The Spring Circuit Court Justiciary was opened here this morning, …. James Birnie, John Mann, and Edward Bell, were charged with having, on 31st December, broken into the post-office Paisley, and stolen therefrom several large sums of money. They pleaded guilty, and were sentenced and were sentenced to 14 years transportation. Edinburgh Evening Courant, 7 May 1832. --------------------------------------------------------------- National Archives. HO-9-2_4. Page 23/48. Euryalus Hulk, at Chatham. Received Twenty from Newgate. 2 June 1832. James Birnie, age 13, Housebreaking, Tried Glasgow, 5 May 1832, 14 years. NSW per Lord Lyndock, 24 May 1833. ----------------------------------------------- John Mann and Edward Bell were also sent to the Euryalus and were both transferred to the Cumberland hulk, 23 July 1832.
