David Battles, per Lord Lyndoch, F.S., for larceny, sentenced to 6 months, native of Liverpool, labourer, 5 feet 5 inches high, prior conviction 2 Dec 1868, from Hobart Town. Tasmania Police Gazette, 8th Dec 1871, p198. Prisoner discharged from HM Gaol & Houses of Correction, week ending 29 May & 25 May 1872. David Battles or Birtles, per Lord Lyndoch 2, C.P., tried at Hobart, on 30 Nov 1871 for larceny, served 6 months, native of Liverpool, 48yrs, 5 feet 5 inches, brown hair, right thumb injured. Tasmania Police Gazette, 31st May 1872, p92.
