THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE OLD BAILEY MARTHA BISGROVE. Theft; theft from a specified place. 17th August 1835. 1863. MARTHA BISGROVE was indicted for stealing, on the 1st of August, at St. Paneras, 5 sovereigns, 1 half-sovereign, 2 half-crowns, 21s. and 1 sixpence, the monies of Edward Wheatcroft, in the dwelling-house of Matthew Hamilton............ GUILTY of stealing only. Aged 26.— Transported for Seven Years. (The witness, Caroline Bisgrove, was committed for prevarication.) First Jury, before Mr. Sergeant Arabin.

Offence; Stealing money from a Gentleman her ?? in law, but in consequence of having 2 children, I took the offence upon myself Husband; Edward a plasterer, New Road, London 1839 - Ticket of Leave. 1840 - Martha Bisgrove, holding a ticket-of-leave, was charged by Constable Howard with misconduct, in living in an improper manner with a man, and, also, with representing herself to be free. She was sent to the house of correction for three months. 1840 - Colonial Times. Tue 11 Feb 1840. Page 7. Hobart Town Police Report. Martha Bisgrove, a ticket-of-leave woman in the service of Mr. Thomas, was charged by her master with introducing a man into her bedroom, she pleaded guilty to the charge, and stated in her defence that she was about to be married to the man and had not seen him for a long time, she had just asked him to step in. She was sentenced to the House of Correction for ten days. 1842 - Free Certificate. No; 568/1842 1843 - MARRIAGE. 18 May 1843. Parish Church, Campbell Town Martha Bisgrove aged 30 years, spinster ** Charles Cox aged 40 years old, Wheelwright Witness; Henry & Ann Anderson
