Hilary (Henry) Bishop married Elizabeth Donns in New South Wales on 12 July 1847 when he was 40 years old. Married in Church of England Gosford/Kincumber NSW. Reference No: 1847/799 Vol: 32C NSW jail Description & Entrance Books, 1818-1930. No 173 jail - Newcastle. Record shows name as Henry Bishop. Record also shows Birth year as 1806. In 1855 Hilary & his wife Elizabeth were convicted of Larceny and sent to prison. Their two surviving sons, Saul aged 7 was recorded with brother Edward aged 4 as an admission to Ormond House. The NSW Register of Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children: I am a GG grandson of Hilary (Henry). What I am trying to resolve is Hilary's death date.

Hilary Bishop was more commonly known as Henry. Henry was 23 years old on arrival in NSW. 1840: Henry was 33 years old and married Jane McDonald, who was 26 and arrived per "Henry Wellesley in 1836. 1845: Jane died. 1847: Married Elizabeth Donns or Douns in 1847 at Gosford. They had 4 children. Date of death possibilities: 1867 - Henry Bishop drowned in a flooded creek (his father's name is listed as Henry in the BDM --- or ---1885 age 82 at Redfern. Also no definite date for Elizabeth.

Hilary had a wife and child in Deal, Kent. His crime was the theft of 2 ducks. He never returned to England.
