Sister of Edward Lawn (on his convict indent)
ADM 101/58/7 1827 Medical and surgical journal of the Persian convict ship for 11 April to 10 August 1827 by James Patten MD, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in transporting female convicts from England to Van Diemen's Land. ADM 101/58/7/1 Folio 8: Catherine Blakeney, aged 27; disease or hurt, acute excruciating pain in the abdomen, with frequent desire for natural evacuations, thirst and headache, pains of the body. Put on sick list, 7 May 1827, off Teneriffe. Discharged cured, 8 May 1827. In the Surgeon's opinion she 'had made too free with either wine or spirits while lying off Teneriffe'.

Catherine Blakeney (nee Lawn). m.1 John Blakeney with whom she was convicted. JB sent to NSW, CB sent to VDL. Married ex-convict Phillip Pembrey. Two daughters Sarah b.1833, Mary Ann b.1834. Moved to Mount Gambier area.
