James Blowfield was listed as 37 years old on arrival in VDL - his native place was Saxmendham. James was transported for "Desertion from the coldstream guards absent 16 mths". Prior Convictions: Desertion 3 times 30 days, 3 mths and 6 mths. James was 5'9¼" tall, fresh complexion, black hair and whiskers, blue eyes, literate. Married: Wife: Frances - no children listed. Brothers: George, Amos, John. Sisters: Matilda, Eliza - at native place. 1/10/1853: Permission to marry Sarah Ann Hill (Sir Robert Seppings). 8/11/1853: TOL 21/11/1853: Married Sarah Ann Hill, aged 27, he was 38, and a shoemaker. Married at St George's church, Hobart. Children: BLOWFIELD SARAH 1853 BLOWFIELD M 1855 BLOWFIELD JOHN WILLIAM JAMES 1856 BLOWFIELD F 1858 BLOWFIELD GEORGE ROWLAND HILL 1860 29/8/1854: CP 11/12/1856: Free Certificate, Hobart. 23/11/1867: Sarah Ann Blowfield died of Chronic Bronchitis at Macquarie Street, Hobart - Shoemakers wife. 9/1/1868: Married Sarah Annie Mason, aged 22 - James was 52, a Boot maker.
