1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures state that Owen Boland was 23 years old. He could neither read nor write; religion Roman Catholic; status married with one daughter and a native of County Wicklow. His occupation was a farm labourer. Owen was convicted of House breaking on 6 February 1836 in Dublin and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 6 1/4 inches; complexion sallow and freckled; hair brown and eyes brown and had a dark carroty whiskers and was of stout build. Transport number 21. Prisoner number 36-1826. Received ticket of leave dated 13 September 1844 in Port Stephens district on recommendation of Dungog bench (number 44/2315). Issued with ticket of leave passport in the Dungog district dated January 1849 (number 49/50).
