Family connections for Hannah (Bolton) are: BOLTON/MOORE This narrative is not entirely reliable due to confusion in the references concerning the Hannah (Bolton)/John (Herbert) relationship; whereby: Smees records show Hannah (Bolton) with John (Herbert ROYAL ADMIRAL 1792) & producing a child on Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island references show Hannah (Bolton/Moore) with John (Herbert SCARBOROUGH 1788) Hannah (Bolton/Moore) was born about 1769 in Birmingham Warwickshire. Due to her name, she may have married firstly (1of3) in UK. She was tried w/1other for burglary of William (Field) of Birmingham Warwickshire in Warwick & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover. She was sent to Norfolk Island on 7 8 1790 on SURPRISE. She had a second (2of3) relationship with John (Herbert) whom she perhaps married in 1791 (a group ceremony was held in November 1791, at which they were not listed) - & produced perhaps 7children. She was Free by Servitude by 1799.>>> >>>Hannah (Bolton) may be a relation of Mary (Bolton LADY PENRHYN 1788) who is shown in a relationship with John (Herbert SCARBOROUGH 1788). [Some details taken from this Website] John (Herbert) was born on 24 4 1767 at Long Lane Smithfield St Andrews Holborn London; he was baptised John Alexander. He was tried for stealing silk handkerchief, on 5 4 1784, of John (Thompson) at Old Bailey on 21 4 1784, sentenced to 7years, held probably at London or Middlesex Gaol Delivery & hulk CENSOR on the Thames until 24 2 1787 when he was sent to Portsmouth & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 1 1788 after a voyage of 8months on First Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH. On 4 3 1790 he was sent to Norfolk Island on HMS SIRIUS, possibly arriving on 17 3 1790 (the date of its sinking on reef near Kingston Pier Slaughter Bay). By 1794 he was selling grain. He built a 2story house (valued at 10lb in 1812). He was Free by Servitude by 1799. He was recorded in 1802 as a time expired settler & a constable on Norfolk Island. A John (Herbert) was recorded as settler/constable on stores on Norfolk Island in Fenruary 1805. In 1812 he had 12acres of land. He left Norfolk Island with 2children as part of the second evacuation on 18 2 1813 on MINSTREL to Port Dalrymple Tasmania, arriving on 4 3 1813; he was granted 50acres at Norfolk Plains/Longford. He died on 14 11 1846 age83 (or79) at Hope Inn Westbury & was buried at St Andrews Anglican church Westbury. [Some details taken from this Website] .. >>>Hannah (Bolton/Moore) had a relationship (perhaps her third) with Joseph (Fouveaux) while he was acting Lieutenant Governor of Norfolk Island. She went to Tasmania on 18 2 1813, necessarily listed with her family in Ref:'People...'.; however she is not listed on MINSTREL, the appropriate ship for this voyage. She is regarded as dying about August 1801 age about31-not shown in Smees records-(from childbirth?) mother of 8known children & buried at Kingston cemetery on 4 9 1801. Joseph (Foveaux) was born about 1765. He enlisted in NSW Corps on 5 6 1789 as Lieutenant, rising to Captain in 1791. He arrived in NSW as an officer on 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8months on PITT; he was on Norfolk Island in 1792. He was sent to Parramatta in 1793 & was granted 103acres South of Sydney & 85acres East of Sydney on 2 12 1793. In 1794 he was granted 100acres at Petersham Hill &, on 3 10 1794, he also leased 30acres there; on 6 11 1794 he leased a property at West Sydney & he had a first relationship with Ann (Sherwin) her second relationship).>>> [Ann (Sherwin) arrived on Norfolk Island on 9 3 1794. [Details of Ann (Sherwin)s family are given in entry for Daniel (Allen ADMIRAL GAMBIER 1811) on this Website. .. >>>Joseph (Foveaux) was still assigned to Parramatta in 1795. On 10 6 1796 he was raised to Major at Parramatta. He was moved to Sydney in 1799 &, on 16 1 1799 he was granted 125acres at Hawkesbury, on 3 10 1799 he was granted 1,170acres at Toongabbie with another 190acres there on 18 12 1799. On 12 3 1800 he was granted a further 600acres at Toongabbie (he sold some of his grants to (MacArthur) in 1801 & cattle to Government) before being sent to Norfolk Island on 29 4 1800, where he was raised to acting Lieutenant Governor on 26 6 1800. He was a Major commandant of Norfolk Island from August 1800 to September 1804 where he is known for his supposed harsh rule & able administration. He applied for leave in 1804 & returned to Sydney on sick leave & returned to UK on 9 9 1804. He returned to Sydney on 29 7 1808 to be acting Lieutenant Governor, but was assigned as acting Governor. In March 1810 he returned to UK on EXPERIMENT. He died in 1846 age about81, father of 1known child, as Lieutenant General in London. Hannah (Bolton) & Joseph (Foveaux) produced 1child: ] 1.Ann Noble Moore (Foveaux/Boulton/Herbert) was born on 19 5 1801 & baptised on 13 2 1803 age21m on Norfolk Island. She was taken to Tasmania by her mother on 18 2 1813.
