Tried Stafford 15 Mar 1821 Life Transported for Sacreilege, Gaol Rept. Former character not known, badly connected. Hulk Rept: Orderly. Confessed this offence, Stealing Bible and Prayer book from Shenston Church- in custody once before for coining- wife and 5 ch at Russell St, Birmingham.




Committed to our county-gaol, William Boulton, and Joseph Jostage, for burglariously breaking into the parish church of Shenstone, and stealing a bible and a prayer book, the property of the church wardens and overseers of the said parish. of Shenstone; Staffordshire Advertiser, 24 Feb 1821. On Sunday last, the following convicts were removed from our county gaol to the hulks at Portsmouth ; viz. ... William Bolton, ... and Joseph Jostage, for life; Staffordshire Advertiser, 30 June 1821.
