Convict Notes
Originally baptised in Leicester England as Primitive Methodist (parents John and Mary Bonser)but baptised on wedding date in Perth Western Australia as a Roman Catholic at insistence of bride Margaret Bourke. It is believed John walked all the way from Toodyay to Perth for the wedding Oct 5 1853 Ticket of Leave granted Oct 14 1851 and Pardoned Jan 1 1856. He had 7 children (some died before he did) and lived on his farm in the Toodyay area until his wife died. Later re-married to Ann Waterman (born Cunningham). He is buried in Pioneer section of Northam cemetery.
