NEW SOUTH WALES. RETURN OF ALL MALE CONVICTS ASSIGNED BETWEEN THE 1st AND 28th FEBRUARY, 1833. Boorman Peter, Roslyn Castle, farmer's boy, to Alexander Elliott, Sydney. NSW Govt. Gazette, 3 April 1833.
County of Antrim Assizes. Peter Borman was indicted for stealing a dark grey gelding and coat, on the 28th of January last, the property of Alexander Tweed. Alex. Tweed. Examined - Lost a horse in Jan. last; saw it afterwards in Ballymena, in one David Lynn's stable; - Iost a coat, also; found the coat on the prisoner; prisoner was living with witness at the time of the theft. John Nowlan, Police Sergeant- Was stationed at Ballymena in January last; on 29th January prisoner was brought into Ballymena, on suspicion of having stolen the horse; the horse claimed by Tweed was the one with the prisoner. Edward Anderson), another policeman, proved having taken up the prisoner in Portglenone; he said he was sent by his father to sell the horse in Ballymena.- Guilty; transportation for life. TRANSPORTATION OF CONVICTS.- On Monday last, the following convicts were forwarded from Carrickfergus Jail, under the charge of two of Mr Erskine's Assistants, and a guard of soldiers, to Kingstown, for transportation to New South Wales. Their clean and comfortable appearance, and the great decorum and regularity observed by the entire party, on their departure, (not a murmur or complaint having been uttered, but expressions of thanks) reflect the highest credit on the attention and discipline of the Governor of the Establishment. … Peter Boorman, aged 16, convicted of horse stealing, at Spring Assizes, to be transported for life. … Belfast Newsletter, 10 Aug 1832.
