Convict Notes




Elias Boss was a travelling Gipsey. He was 17 years old when, along with John Budd Gray, also on board, they stole a mare each, the property of Jane Blades. Elias was 5'6 1/2" tall, sallow complexion, black hair and eyes, reads a little, single, protestant. 26/3/1846: Emerged from Gang. 19/2/1850: TOL 13/3/1855: COF, Westbury. 1857: Married Frances Bonney at Deloraine. They had 5 known children. 1909: Listed as a contractor of Lyndhurst in the Sands Directory. 5/7/1919: Elias died in Newtown, Hobart aged 93 and was buried at the Don Congregational Cemetery.
