Born April 20 1857, William Burke, father Thomas Burke, wheelwright, mother, Hannah Burke, formerly Lynch, The mother Hannah Lynch was the informant, (signed with her mark X) and her residence was Battery Point.

An extract from the report of the case for manslaughter against Thomas Bourke and Doheny: "Cornelius Lonergan examined by James Scott. QC. Lives at Caber knew Mr. Mahony ; saw him on the night of the 26th of October last with a man named Healy, at Fat Neil’s public-house, in which witness then lodged, about seven o’clock; they afterwards went out, and again returned about half-past nine; Mahony appeared tipsy, but Healy was sober ; when Mahony and Healy came back  man named Doheny and two men named Burke were in the kitchen ; their going in Doheny complained to the Burkes of Mahony having taken his watch when returning from the races; there was a row then, and Mr. Neil put the party out; the two Burkes and Doheny returned to the kitchen ; that row Mahony lost his hat; saw it the kitchen after he went out ; Mahony returned in a little time for his hat, and the Burkes and Doheny run out at him, and pelted him down the road; before the first row took place, the low-sized man. Burke, took a stone from his pocket, which he showed to Doheny. and said that would do something before they went home; there had been blows at the time that occurred, but Doheny had before that charged Mahony with having taken his watch ; when Mahony went back for his hat witness went out and saw the Burkes and Doheny pursuing Mahony, and the three men again returned with an old man to Neil’s; ...." His wife Hannah was sentenced to 1 year's imprisonment for Larceny in June 1873. The report of the Court case refers to a daughter of Hannah Burke.

Marriage Record: https://libraries.tas.gov.au/Digital/RGD37-1-11/RGD37-1-11P276 Thomas Burke, age 36, Shipwright, Bachelor, and Hannah Lynch, age 28, servant, spinster, were married at the Catholic Church of St Joseph, Hobart Town, on 13 Dec 1852, by the Very Rev. W. Hail. Thomas and Hannah both signed their mark X. Witnesses were Nicholas Symes and Sarah Corcoran.
