At Lincoln the following prisoners were tried when our account was sent from that city: Isaac Bowers was put to the bar. It was stated by the witnesses that in January 1810, he had been tried at Peterborough sessions for  stealing three pigs: sentence was not then passed against him, but the case referred to the Judges.  At the succeeding sessions in May, he was sentenced to seven years transportation beyond the seas. In the night of the 10th of May he effected his escape, by means of a rope which had been thrown over the prison wall, and fastened to an adjoining tree: he was now tried for being found at large before  the expiration of the term for which he was sentenced. This thoughtless fellow was apprehended on the 23d of June in Lincoln . His imprudence in exposing himself at so early a period in a place where he was likely to be known, was equalled by his apparently total unconcern while the judge passed on him the sentence of death. He seemed perfectly unmoved, and went out of court, as he came in, proof against the influence of the most powerful passion of the human mind.  Cambridge Chronicle, 10 Aug 1810.
