Old Bailey: FREDERICK BOWHAY, Theft > pocketpicking, 16th September 1830. Offence: Theft > pocketpicking Verdict: Guilty Punishment: Transportation FREDERICK BOWHAY was indicted for stealing, on the 9th of September , 1 handkerchief, value 2s., the goods of Charles James Wilford , from his person . CHARLES JAMES WILFORD. I am independent. On the 9th of September, between three and four o'clock in the afternoon, I was in Cavendish-square - I felt my handkerchief go from my pocket; I turned, and saw the prisoner with it, in the act of throwing it behind him - I took him to the office; two other boys ran across the square - he said they took it, but I think they were not near enough. DAVID GEORGE ALDERSON. I took the prisoner, and have the handkerchief. Prisoner's Defence. I was walking up the street - this gentleman turned round, and saw the handkerchief at the feet of two boys, who ran away; he came and accused me of it. GUILTY. Aged 15. - Transported for Fourteen Years. Frederick was born C1815 at Plymouth, Devon. 1839: TOL 2/4/1845: COF 15/11/1848: Married Sarah Ann Sloey, born 14/6/1832, Ire. and died 29/4/1903 at Yeoval, NSW, aged 70. Sarah Ann Arrived per 'Parland' in 1838 aged 5 - her parents were Peter Sloey and Mary Ann Cochrane. Children: BOWHAY, Amelia(1850 - 1925) BOWHAY, Elizabeth BOWHAY, Mary (Molly)( - 1896) BOWHAY, Charles(1858 - 15 Apr 1926) BOWHAY, Frederick J(1861 - 1932) Was a farmer and grazier at Orange, NSW. BOWHAY, Peter(1864 - 1946) BOWHAY, Sarah A(21 Aug 1868 - 14 Mar 1955) BOWHAY, John(7 Nov 1872 - 8 Sep 1947) BOWHAY, George Henry(1875 - 24 Dec 1937) Was a grazier near Yeoral, NSW. 5/12/1878: Frederick James Bowhay died at Norah Creek, NSW., and was buried at Molong, NSW.
