ADM 101/30/6/1 Medical journal of the Grenada, female convict ship, for 4 August 1826 to 1 February 1827 by Alexander Nesbet, Surgeon and Superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed in a voyage to New South Wales. (Described at item level). Folio 1: Betty Bowker, aged 19, Convict; sick or hurt, Obstipatio; put on sick list, 29 August 1826; discharged 2 September 1826 to duty.

5/8/1826 Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser Lancashire, England: Betty Bowker, 32, for stealing a fender and a coal box. 8/11/1830: TOL - At the Female Factory, Sydney. 6/1/1831: TOL - Granted in pursuance of the Govt order of 17/3/1829 and for good conduct in Factory - Sydney bench. - In Lieu of No 30/702, 8/11/1830 returned mutilated and cancelled. Betty was described as 5'0" tall, dark and a little pock pitted complexion, dark brown to grey hair, brown eyes. Birth Date of 1797. Ancestry Convict Indent: Aged 30 on arrival, protestant, reads, married with 1 child, Cotton Spinner/House Servant. Assigned to Judge Stephen on arrival.

Sydney Gazette, 10 Mar 1831. On Christmas Day an inmate of Hyde Park Ayslum, in Sydney, named Betty Bowker, attained the advanced age of 103 years. With the exception of being bed- ridden," says the HeraId, "she exhibits no exceeding infirmity, can read with the aid of spectacles, is still vigorous in mind, and converses freely on topics and incidents which have long been matters of history. She is a pious, grateful, and strictly truthful woman. Betty was born in Liverpool, England, in the year 1765, when George III had reigned five years. When only nineteen she married a carpenter, by whom she had five sons, the eldest of whom was forty years of age when she left England-forty-five years since. She came out in the Grenada, commanded by Captain Richardson, surgeon, Dr. Nesbitt ; and states that a Bible containing an authenticated certificate of her baptism is now in possession of a resident at the North Shore, where she also lived for some time."
