The Convict Indentures state that Eliza Bowles was 19 years old. She could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of Limerick. She was a kitchen maid. Eliza was convicted of stealing shirts at Limerick City in July 1837 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 0 1/2 inches, complexion ruddy and much freckled and slightly pock pitted; hair light sandy brown and eyes grey. Transport number 40. Prisoner number 40-38.
