Claims
"I believe John BOWMAN is my 4th Great Uncle. The pieces all fit. John was born 21 Apr 1793, baptised 24 April 1793 at Snettisham, Norfolk, England, the son of Robert BOWMAN and his second wife Elizabeth HALL/HALE. John married Ann RUDD (c1787-1857 born Hartley, Norfolk, England) at Bircham Newton 28 Oct 1810. Both made their mark. They had children, and their youngest son George is living with them on the 1841 Census at Snettisham. John is an Agricultural Labourer. On 19 Mar 1844 John BOWMAN was tried and convicted to 7 years transportation for Larcency at the County General Sessions, Walsingham, Norfolk. John ws transported on the Hyberabad on the 15 Oct 1844 to Van Dieman's Land. He then appears to have been transferred to Norfolk Island on the same vessel. In 1851 on the English census his wife Ann is described as married, living with sons Samuel and George. She died in 1857. There is a death recorded for John BOWMAN in 1845 on Norfolk Island, aged 52 and I assume this is he."
