October 3. Simon Ross and James Boyd, convicted of housebreaking and theft at Rutherglen, were sentenced to he hanged on Wednesday the 4th day of November; Caledonian Mercury, 5 Oct 1818. Saturday the following convicts were brought to Edinburgh jail, from Glasgow, for the purpose of being transported :- James Boyd, lately under sentence of death, for house-breaking and theft, transportation for life.
