On 8 July 1824, at Campbelltown, he married Sarah Higgins, daughter of Robert Higgins (NSW Corps Corporal; Queen 1791) and Lydia Farrell (Convict; Pitt, 1792). The couple had a large family of 12 over the next 20 years.
