County of Antrim Assizes.  The undermentioned persons were convicted of various crimes at the last assizes for this county and sentenced accordingly :— ... Adam Boyle, … all for robbery, to be transported for seven years, Belfast News-Letter, 4 April 1817. Adam Boylan and Bernard M‘Donnell, were indicted for stealing 2 lbs. of soap. the property of John Croarkan of Belfast ; and Bernard McDonnell for assaulting John Croarkan, on 29th October last. John Croarkan—lost a quantity of soap  on 29th —was sitting in the parlour when the girl alarmed him and told him M‘Donnell’'s comrade ran off with some soap —came out and saw prisoners running out—he followed and got M‘Donnell standing at Mr. Burke's …. the watchman -M'donnell said he would go quietly if if they would not hold him—they let him go, when he attacked witness and the watchman and attempted to take the ... from him——witness seized him. and MDonnell caught him by the throat and almost choked him —another watchman  came up and they got him secured and taken to the Police Office: Boylan escaped, Margaret McAlear confirmed the foregoing evidence.
