John Boyle was convicted at Glasgow for stealing shoes. 7yr sentence. Transported to Sydney, New South Wales on the 'Clyde' 1832. Single man; Roman Catholic; labourer;sallow complexion; dk brown hair; Hazel eyes; 5'6 1/4". Native place of birth - County Down, Ireland. Received his Ticket of Leave in NSW. Went to Port Phillip. Worked as a labourer. Apprehended for Horse Stealing and convicted at Melbourne, Victoria on 18/03/1844. 10yr sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Flying Squirrel'. 18 months Probation at Port Arthur penal settlement. 21/01/1851: Ticket of Leave 18/02/1851: Found secreted aboard the steam ship 'Shamrock'. 12mths imprisonment & Ticket of Leave revoked.
