Colonial Secretary Index. BRAMLEY, Peter. Per "Earl Spencer", 1813 1817 Nov 24 Petition for mitigation of sentence (Fiche 3174; 4/1850 p.34) The humble petition of Peter Bramley Most Respectfully sheweth That Petitioner arrived in the Colony in the Transport ship Earl Spencer, under the Sentence of transportation for Life. That he has now lived with William Cox Esquire upwards of two years and a half and he has by his good behaviour since he has been in the colony, endeavoured to merit the approbation of his Employers. He presumes therefore to solicit Your Excellency to be graciously pleased to take his good character into consideration, and grant him such mitigation of his severe sentence as to your Excellency may seem meet. Windsor, 24 Nov 1817.And petitioner will ever pray, etc Peter Bramley. We certify to his Excellency that the Conduct of Petitioner is Correct. we believe him to be Sober, Honest and Industrious, & beg leave to Recommend him for a Ticket of Leave. Wm Cox, J.P. J. LEICESTER ASSIZES. John Lee, for stealing a mare, the property of John Phipps, of Holbeach, Lincolnshire; Peter Bramhly, for stealing eight silver watches, and other articles, the property of John Birtles, Market Harborough; and John RiacLley,  for stealing sundry bank bills, value 6£. from the house of John Hollingshead, Saxelby,—being severally found guilty,  received sentence death. Stamford Mercury, 31 July 1812.  At Leicester assizes, three prisoners were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, namely,- John Lee, for stealing a mare; Peter Bransley (a youth of 17,) for robbing his father's shop of eight silver watches, &c. and J. Mackley, for stealing  out of a dwelling house a 5£. and a 1£. Leicester bank note  and several other articles. Derby Mercury. 6 Aug 1812.
