1 child on board with her - Sarah aged 10yrs. Father of child recorded as George Murphy. Sarah Murphy admitted to New Town Orphanage (as was the custom for children of female convicts)3 June 1851. Discharged 6 Aug 1855 to care of Charles Carroll, Hobart (most probably to work). (Ref. SWD 28. Mother recorded as Mary Breen per Blackfriar. Sister: Anne - in America Sister: Diddy (or Biddy)

Mary Breen was convicted at Wexford on 16/07/1850 for Larceny - steal clothing. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Blackfriar 1851. Roman Catholic; single,1 child; 30yrs of age; dk brown hair; dark complexion; dk blue eyes; 5'2 3/4". Assignments of service in Colony: New Town Farm; Hobart; House of Correction, Cascades Hobart; Pitt Water. 1855: at hospital, as a nurse. Certificate of Freedom, Hobart 16/07/1857.
