Aged 35yrs; grey eyes; brown hair; 5'2 3/4"; can read & write; married, 3 children; Protestant; housemaid. Native Place: Dublin. 1st husband: James Coffey (Coffee)married 1836 Ireland. Children: Robert Coffey b. 1836 - transported with mother. Placed in Queens Orphanage Hobart (no. 464) aged 13yrs - discharged 15/08/1850 to M.Carter, New Town. : Mary Coffey b. 1848. Died aged 3mths at Grangegorman Gaol. : Sarah (k/a Daisy or Dolly) Coffey b. 1841 - transported with mother, 9yrs of age. Admitted to Queens Orphanage, Hobart (no. 451). Discharged to mother 09/06/1851 Elizabeth Brennan/Hughes. 2nd Husband: Joseph Hughes (prev. Duckers)married 21/04/1851 Hobart (ref. 201/1851-37). Joseph was transported as 'Joseph Duckers' on the 'John' in 1830. Previously married to Ann Cook. He left VDL and went to Victoria and took on the name Joseph Hughes', however he was charged there 18/10/1845 with Forgery and given a 7yr sentence and transported back to Van Diemen's Land. Elizabeth received her Ticket of Leave 24/06/1851; Conditional Pardon 18/10/1853 and Free Certificate 26/01/1855. Elizabeth Brennan/Hughes died 11/05/1864 Hobart (ref. 4442/1864-35) aged 50yrs (cancer of the womb).




Convicted at Wexford for stealing 2 geese. 7 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Lord Auckland'.
