John Brennan was convicted in Hong Kong on 02/10/1844 whilst serving as a Police Officer in the 55th Regiment (3yrs). Life Sentence. Transported on a non-convict ship - the 'Osprey' arriving 26/01/1845. Roman Catholic; not literate; 5'4 1/2"; 21yrs of age; dk brown hair; dk brown eyes; dark complexion; scars; single man. Native Place: Roscommon, Ireland. Station Gang: Norfolk Island, 4yrs. Transferred to Van Diemens Land per 'Lady Franklin' 06/08/1847. To be sent to Cascades, Hobart, to complete N.I. probation & to be kept separate. Numerous records of misconduct and punishments. Assignments included: Lymington, St. Peter's Pass, Cascades, Archer at Longford, Fingal. 14/09/1853: Ticket of Leave granted.
