James was born in Hitcham Suffolk, his parents were Robert Brett and Francis Brett, his father died when he was 2 years old, mother remarried,James married in 1832 in Rattlesden Suffolk, to Eliza Moore, they had one son Charles born 1833,James had been in prison twice before, once for poaching in 1829, again in 1832 for larceny, third time unlucky, for stealing a scythe, he was transported, he served his sentence and was given his freedom, then the trail goes cold, James was my Great Great Grandfather.
