Convict Ship Muster for Newcastle Gaol 20 Jan 1836 N SW Australia. George Brewer [alias Richard Aldrige/Aldridge/Alldridge]-Convict Register-Height 4ft 9inches, Ruddy complexion, Light Hair, Eyes Greenish. Scar on upper, R.A.M.M.R.M.R. inside lower right arm, Anchor and R inside lower left arm. Assigned to ALEXANDER PARKS of his property 'Lewinsbrook" near Gresford. Worked as farmer/tobacco twister. TOL 30 Apr 1840. Cert of Freedom 31 Jan 1841. Applied for marriage to Rhoda Donavan 4 Aug 1841. 25 May 1844 Assigned with Charles Reynolds of TOCAL, he refused to obey an order from his employer's partner Mr Parnell to herd cattle as Mr Parnell was not the Master, so he was charged and given 7 days in the cells on bread and water. 14 Feb 1845 Gaoled, sentenced to 1 month hard labour for unlawfully combining to force someone to leave their employment. George was unhappy with the wages on offer that year, rebelled at Walthall's tobacco factory. George previously worked there.5ft 7in Stout, fresh complexion, light hair, brown eyes, R.A.M.A. on lower right arm. Sentence released Conduct was orderly - this is the last we see of alias George Brewer - he is a free settler and now known as Richard Aldridge, Tobacco Twister. Married Rhoda Donavan 5 Oct 1849 with 4 children. Moved from Paterson to Belltrees, Scone to work for White family 1852/53 on Ellerston. Richard and Rhoda have 10 children in all, 2 dying as infants. Their daughters married into the Roe and Greer families of Waverley Station. 3 of their sons discovered gold in Queensland at Croydon, Gulf of Carpentaria 1885. Aldridge's Creek is situated near Ellerston to this day. Richard died 30 Nov 1869 aged 50 of a heart attack. The family went on to spell the surname as Alldridge.
