Convict Notes
Bridget was from Galway, Ireland and convicted for 7 years in Galway in 1829. She was transported to Australia on the ship Asia, which sailed from Cork on September the 10th of that year, arriving at Port Jackson, N.S.W. on the 13 January 1830. She was married and there were 200 women on board when the Asia sailed. On arrival in Sydney, Bridget was assigned to Elizabeth Sandwell, a free settler and wife of Edward Sandwell (1770-1838) who was the landlord of the Rose & Crown Inn on the south eastern corner of Castlereagh Street and King Street in Sydney. (She was assigned to the Sandwells at the same time as fellow convict Elizabeth Ferris)
