Daniel Brien was placed at the bar, charged with having, stolen a pair shoes, the property of Richard Nonis, at Tipperary, on the 3d of June. Guilty. Mr. Hobson asked the prisoner if he had any person in Court who would give him a good character. Arthur Mulholland, Constable, instantly stood up and said, (without being twora) .. the prisoner was not a fair character—the prisoner was charged before with stealing a door, and he, Mulholland, found that door in his house. Prisoner—Put him to his oath have I any house. Constable Keating also said, that the  prisoner was a bad character, he knew the prisoner with stealing potatoes in Tipperary. Sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Tipperary Free Press, 21 July 1830.
