Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The Convict Indentures state that Jane Brien was 25 years old. She could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of County Meath. She was a kitchen maid. Jane was convicted of stealing money at Meath on 9 October 1837 and sentenced to 7 years. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 2 1/2 inches; complexion fair freckled and a little pock pitted; hair brown and eyes blue. Transport number 92. Prisoner number 90-39.
