Family connections for Ann (Briggs) are: BRIGGS Ann (Briggs) daughter of John (Briggs) & Esther (Turpin) was born about 1792, baptised on 18 11 1792 at Worlington Suffolk & became a house servant. She was tried for fraudently obtaining silver cutlery of Alice (Macro) of Worlington Bury Norwich (Norfolkshire?) at Suffolk Quarter Sessions on 13 4 1807, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 11 1808 after a voyage of 8months on SPEKE. She married with permission John (Delaney) on 23 8 1813 at St Matthews CofE Windsor & produced a child. She is recorded in 1814 with her family. She is also stated to have married William/Timothy (Ballard). She died in June 1849 age57/60 & was buried at St Johns CofE Parramatta. [Some details taken from this Website] John (Delaney) was born about 1781. He was tried at Dublin Ireland in July 1800, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 7 1802 after a voyage of 7.5months on ATLAS-(he may have been born about 1768). He was Free by Servitude by 1812. He is recorded in 1814 with his wife & family. He was issued his Conditional Pardon in 1815. He died in 1860 age79. [Some details taken from this Website] [William/Timothy (Ballard) is mentioned in 2entries on this Website, but not as marrying Ann (Briggs) - one did marry Ann (Ward LORD WELLINGTON 1820) & produced 5/7children in 1820s] Reference: Craig James Smee 'Births and Baptisms Marriages and Defacto Relationships Deaths and Burials New South Wales 1788-1830' ..a complete listing from church & other records in the early colony.

My research differs from that of the previous contributor. The 1814 NSW, Census & Population Books, state Ann Briggs is wife of John Delaney and she is off the ship SPEKE. Ann Briggs: Birth: 1792. Baptism: 18 Nov 1792 Worlingham, Suffolk, England Parents: John Briggs & Esther Turpin. Trial: Suffolk Quarter Session, 13 April 1807. Aged about 16yrs. Sentenced to transportation for 7 years. Ship: Speke, departed Falmouth England on 18th May 1808 & arrived in Sydney on 16th November 1808. Ann Briggs met convict John Delaney and had a child with him. John Delaney (Jnr) was born at Wilberforce, (near Windsor) NSW on the 4th July 1812. John (Snr) was later given permission to marry Ann Briggs and the ceremony took place at St. Matthews Church Windsor on 23rd August 1813. 1814: The NSW, Census & Population Books, 1811-1825 lists Ann Delaney Briggs, of the ship Speke, with one child, wife of John Delaney. Residence: Windsor, NSW, Australia. John Delaney was granted a conditional pardon in 1815, their son John Delaney (Jnr) was formally baptised at St Matthew’s Church on 14 July 1815. We haven’t found much about their life after this, but as Ann is buried at Parramatta we assume they moved and settled there. Ann Briggs died June 1849 aged 62-63yrs. Burial: 12 June 1849 at Parramatta, City of Parramatta Council, New South Wales, Australia.
