Richard BRIGGS was convicted at Cambridge, England on 15 Oct 1832 for stealing clothes. Previous offence. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania), Australia per the ship 'Enchantress' arriving 31 July 1833. Married man, widower. 2 children. (ref. Convict record) Aged 43yrs; a tailor. Native place of birth: Cambridge, England. Colony of VDL: Admitted to Colonial Hospital. 1 Sept 1833: Died, at the hospital, Hobart. (ref. Convict record)
