Theft; grand larceny (to 1827). 25th October 1815 Text type Trial account Defendants ROBERT BRIGGS Offences Theft > Grand larceny Session Date 25th October 1815 Reference Number t18151025-60 Verdicts Guilty Punishments Transportation 1039. ROBERT BRIGGS was indicted for stealing, on the 20th of September , thirteen quires of writing paper, value 13 s. the property of Edward Church . HUGH BIDWELL. I saw the prisoner go into Mr. Church's office; Mr. Church is a lawyer , and lives in Paternoster row, Spitalfields . I saw him come out with a number of quires of paper. WILLIAM MILLER . I ran after the prisoner, with others, and saw him drop the paper. Prosecutor. That is my property. GUILTY , aged 34. Transported for Seven Years . First Middlesex Jury, before Mr. Recorder.
