Evan Brindle was 28 years old when indicted, along with Roiland Heald and Thomas Rushton (both on the John 1836) for the murder of Robert Howson, a game keeper. The three, along with West Kenyon decided to poach some game, came across the game keeper and a gun went off and killed him. Evan was a "Calico Printer" and was employed athe the Oakenshaw Calico Printworks in Clayton-le-Moors. Evan was married to Ellen Moulding around 1824, they had 3 children and the fourth, Elizabeth, was born while Evan was in jail, awaiting his sentence. The three were sentenced to death, but all were transported for life. 1837: Age 30, Assigned to the House of Correction, Sydney. 1845: TOL Patrick Plains 14/2/1848: TOL Passport, Patrick Plains Bench 10/1/1849: TOL Passport, Singleton Bench. 8/12/1849: TOL Passport, Singleton Bench. 5/10/1849: CP 1852: At Maitland, married Lucy Walker, a widow, they had 6 children, although only 5 are listed. 1876: Evan died at Muswellbrook, aged 68. Evan was having mental problems when he died and his youngest child James was only 15 years old.
