This George BRITTON stated his proper name was "Maurice LITTLETON". 1832: Aged 23yrs; labourer; fair complexion; lt brown hair; grey eyes; tatoos. Colony of VDL: Assigned to work service Numerous records of misconduct and punishments. Sent to Port Arthur Penal Settlement Further offences and committed to trial, in VDL. 1834: Sentenced to death, commuted to Life. 1840: Further Life sentence Recommended to be sent to Norfolk Island.

George BRITTON (alias Maurice Littleton) was convicted at Middlesex, London May 1832 for Larceny - stealing clothes. Previous conviction with a transportation sentence - served 7 yrs on Hulk Jush...at Woolwich. This offence, 7 yr transportation sentence. Hulk report: "orderly". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship "York" arriving 29 Dec 1832. Ship surgeon's report: "exceedingly bad". Single man.
