NATIVE PLACE: Birmingham, Warwickshire. He said he was married with two children, and his wife Priscilla was residing at his native place (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-5$init=CON31-1-5p176). A search of records shows the marriage of Thomas Broadfield and Priscilla Ediths on 12 April 1830 at St Martin's Church of England, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England (see Birmingham, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1937). Family researchers list six children from this marriage - but only the birth of their eldest child, a son Thomas George, is registered in Birmingham (in 1832). The birth of a daughter Jane (presumed to be in 1834), does not appear in UK or Tasmanian records. Four other children whose father is Thomas Broadfield have been found/confirmed in Tasmanian birth and marriage records. However, their mother is given as Priscilla Marshall. It seems Priscilla Marshall was Thomas’s second wife, as below. TRIED: Thomas Broadfield, 23, was tried on 30 December 1833 at Salop (Shropshire) for larceny of a dwelling house and sentenced to life (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892; England, Shropshire, 1834). IMPRISONED: 1834, 4 March: Thomas Broadfield, 23, was sent aboard the Ganymede hulk moored at Woolwich and Devonport, having been convicted at Shrewsbury (Salop) (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849; Ganymede Index 1818-1836).
